Bmw E46 Evap System Not Ready

If the evap monitor is not ready verify that your fuel cap is tight and the level of fuel is between 1 4 and 3 4 full.

I drove about 200 miles took it back to answered by a verified bmw mechanic. You need to complete a drive cycle for the car to evaluate the evap system and mark it ready. Also the car will not even attempt to run an evaluation of the evap system if you have more than 3 4 or less than 1 4 tank of gas or if it s too hot or too cold out. It signifies that the requisite drive cycle has not run completely.

Thus the catalyst monitor has not tested the catalytic converter. If all the other monitors are ready then do a couple more cold starts. If the evap monitor still has not passed or set a pending or present code then take your vehicle to a shop that employs technicians who are familiar. The output of the catalyst monitor can be either not ready or ready if the output of the monitor is not ready what does that indicates.

So in order to make the status of catalyst monitor ready. I just bought 2002 bmw 330xi and it failed inspection due to obd not ready. See page 2 of the link.
