To block a fireplace up you can use a piece of plasterboard as an alternative to bricks.
A quantity of plaster will be required to cover the face of the bricks this can only be applied once the mortar holding the bricks has gone off.
Apply it with a plasterer s trowel scraping it over the bricks until they are completely covered.
Center it between the side edges of the drywall with the bottom edge of the vent cover positioned about 6 inches from the bottom edge of the drywall.
The plasterboard will need to be cut correctly so that it fits tightly into the space.
