I can find lots of posts all over the web about how much people love them and i do find they fit over my windows perfectly without any cutting to size.

Hey guys i thought i d post here to the experts as i ve been ikea ing and am having an issue with the tupplur rolling blinds.
Blinds won t stay down a dirty ratchet technically the paw generally causes this problem.

Pull down the blind to check the spring action leaving the blind in the mounting brackets.
Start with the shade completely up.
Using standard size pliers twist the flat pin at the end of the roller in a clockwise direction until you feel and hear the spring release from inside.
Take a screw driver and press the pawl down in the track in which it travels.
Then unroll it by hand to the half way point.
A shade that snaps up and takes more strength to pull down.
What you need to do is to put a strip of masking tape on the roller shaft where the material is attached at the end that you want the blind to roll back too.
If the blind is rolling to one side then you can adjust this.
If the shade hangs.
Let the blind right down till you can see the where the fabric is fastened to the roll shaft.
If after troubleshooting this you find it not to be the case it may be an issue with the pawl.
Remove the blind from the hanging brackets.
If your blinds won t raise or lower the problem is most likely due to a malfunction of the cord lock mechanism.
Using a toothpick and some compressed air remove any debris or dust around the ratchet.
Determine the source of the shade s problem.
Take the roll up blinds down to gain access to the ratchet mechanism.
Clean out the ratchet and pawl with a vacuum.
Remove it from the brackets.
If this does not work the pawl must be released follow these easy steps.

Remove the blinds by taking the headrail out of the brackets.
To release the blinds tug the lift cords to the side pulling towards the center of the blinds.
This means the tension spring has been locked up inside the roller.
